Can anyone tell me how long they keep copies of insurance cards/HIPAA/consent to treat form etc in an EHR? Are we allowed to delete after a certain time frame so our system stays clean. Does everyone have new forms signed annually?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions that you may be able to provide.

Hi Jennifer!

I think you have to keep the billing records on file seven years. This may be for VA though and may vary state to state

We do have patients sign a financial contract on a yearly basis.
