Does anyone know the difference between BCBS and Highmark BCBS? If so can you please explain to me?

BCBS is not actually an insurance company, it's a trade name - an association. It's a franchise, sort of like a Burger King where the individual restaurants are owned by different people or different companies. Similarly BCBS in each state is a separate franchise that is operated by a separate company. Highmark is one of those, one of the largest, I believe, and they own and operate BCBS in a number of the states.
