Hello ...

I am looking for information on when intensive care codes (not critical care) are used but all I am coming up with is the basic definition which is stated in CPT or examples of critical care. Assuming weight criteria is met, under what circumstances would the intensive care codes for newborns be used rather than the 9922X and 9923X code series? Can anyone direct me to official sources like CMS that address intensive care codes? Thank you.
