Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director of Revenue Cycle, the Director will have responsibilities for Coding for the healthcare system with over 750-beds. Three hospital healthcare system. . This person will be responsible for 70 FTE?s, operational, financial, programmatic and personnel activities of the Coding Department. Responsibilities include compliance, medical necessity, ICD-10, coding and abstracting. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Revenue Cycle, he/she will facilitate, direct, and educate the clinical and medical staff on appropriate coding, billing, documentation and the regulatory requirements in both inpatient and outpatient areas. Due to the complexity and volume of services provided, a high degree of organizational and communication skills are needed. This person will be involved in project work in quality of patient care documentation, billing, and medical justification providing summaries of the results. This leader will also work with coding review programs and the denial management programs.
Duties include: assists in the management of the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities; plans and allocates resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet productivity and quality goals; makes business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures; reviews performance data that includes quality, satisfaction, engagement, and financial reports; monitors and measures productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness; participates in the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the area of responsibility; prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track goal accomplishment; leads colleagues using performance management and development process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage colleague contribution.
Supervisory authority includes authority to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, promote, discharge, assign, reward and discipline
Qualifications & Experience
? Bachelor?s degree required
? Minimum five years coding management experience in academic healthcare setting experience required.
? Minimum of ten years of experience in progressive leadership.
? Advanced certifications (RHIA or RHIT) required.
? Strong leadership track record.
? Knowledge of hospital operations and standard practices.
