I am hoping I can get some help with someone who is familiar with spine surgeries.

My physician that I code for will be using Aileron (Life Spine) interspinous fixation fusion device.

I am not sure of the correct cpt code for billing Aileron.

Is there anyone who is familiar with coding this piece of hardware and can give any advise.

If you have access to the internet some insurance carriers consider this to be investigational. Some say more investigastional trial studies are needed. There is information on the internet regarding the interspinous fixation fusion device. You may want to check with your carrier or the patients insurance. CPT does have a category III code (0171T) & then I read that some say to use 22899 unlisted. I personally have not come across coding for this procedure, but it may not be covered.
