The doctor was called in intraoperatively as another surgeon was performing a laparatomy. He had injured the bladder and repaired it himself, but wanted our urologist to inspect the repair. So our urologist inspected the repair and performed a leak test. He wants to bill 49000-52, but I'm not sure that is correct. Any help would be appreciated!

Since the urologist did not do the repair but did a leak test, one may bill 51700 for the test instillation of fluid provided the urologist documents this as well as an intraoperative consultation using CPT code 99231 or 99232 with modifier -25.
