Question: If a therapist performs/applies e-stim unattended before the patient begins therapy and then after therapy applies the ION patch and sends the patient home but does not perform the e-stim to administer the medication can we bill 97014 and bill for the ION patch?? The description for Iontophoresis says e-stim is used to administer medication (97033) and requires constant attendance. My concern is that we may be toying with fragmented billing by doing this, but the therapist is saying the purpose of the e-stim is not to administer medication. I just want some back up Thanks for your help!
