We have an Inpatient stay that was not precertified. This is BCBS patient. The medical record states "to admit to acute care" Now our nursing department is trying to get this stay certified, the nurse in the certification department at Blue Cross said just to change the record to Observation, then it will get paid. The chart is complete ready to be filed away, charges are done at Acute--I told them that this is not the thing to do--changing the whole chart to get paid?? Any thoughts on this.
