Hi everyone! This is a first for me. I have not had this before. I was wondering how everyone or anyone was billing this dx. Just the K29.60 or go to the poisoning section or both? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you so much.

Hi RobynKing,
Well I haven't coded this scenario yet, but in this coding scenario I would personally assign the K29.60 with an adverse reaction code T45.4XS for the adverse effect from your dictation to specify the medical reason the patient has gastritis. I am only assuming it is an adverse effect but again I don't have the pathology report to state that this was otherwise. We would want to provide the highest level of coding specificity and assigning the second diagnosis code provides the reason why they have to assign "other gastritis".
Thank you for listening,
Dana
