Wiki Irrigation and Debridement Muscle

I had a surgeon perform a left leg laceration irrigation and debridement, and excisional debridement down to and including the level of the muscle. Laceration was approximately 20cm X 4cm in length including the quadriceps muscle. Would I bill a 11043 or 11044?

Why are you considering 11044? According to your documentation bone was not debrided.

Very true, I guess because I saw that it said it included the muscle. My bad! So 11043 would be the code to bill as an outpatient hospital service.

I code for surgeons, not facilities. For physicians this would be coded 11043 & 11046 X 4.
