We are being told by our BCBS rep to use the HCPS code G0008 for billing Flu admins this year. Is anyone else doing this? It has always been used for Mcare pts only. Our next dilema is how to bill for the Flu and multiple vaccines at a well check up.
Ex:
9mos well baby, Rotavirus, pneumococcal, & flu vaccine.

We would normally bill 90467 (initial oral admin)+ 90680 (Rotavirus)
90466 (multiple inj w/2units)+ 90669 (Pneumococcal)
90655 (P-free flu)

Now if we have to use G0008 does that code count as the "initial" admin code and should we be using 90468 instead for the Rotavirus or is the G0008 considered separate altogether? I believe they want G0008 for tracking the flu?

the G0008 is the nurse admin only for mdc patients when given a flu vaccine

and 90465 is the nurse admin for 1 vaccine for children and 90468 is the nurse admin for more than 1 vaccine.

hope this helps

Thanks,
We have always only used G0008 as the admin code for our mcare pts but our BCBS rep is telling us eff 10/1/09 we are to bill all seasonal flu vaccines with the G0008. I was just wondering if anyone else is receiving this info also.

Ask your rep for the BCBS document that tells how to bill the influenza. If you have it in writing than you know they'll pay.
