Our providers are currently delivering behavioral health services at an early childcare center and would like to bill under our existing group contract and provider enrollments.
I am seeking clarification on whether these services should be billed as standard outpatient claims, and if so, whether the correct place of service (POS) would be 03 (School) or another code.
These are services that would be billed mainly to Kansas and Missouri State Medicaid and MCO Products.

Could anyone help with confirming if POS 03 is appropriate in this context, or if an alternative place of service is required for early childcare centers that are not K-12 institutions?

I appreciate any help in finding these answers!
Thank you.

Hi there, regarding the place of service, it will depend on the center. The full descriptor is "A facility whose primary purpose is education." If the ECC is a preschool, 03 would be appropriate.

The centers provide a wide variety of services, so that gets a bit tricky.
For example:
Service locations El Centro inc's academy for children, as well as Emmanuel Family and Child Development Center has daycare for infants as well as preschool services.
What do you think would be the best way to categorize these centers?

Thank you so much!
