I have a patient that we followed in the hospital and then the patient was transferred to a more advanced nearby hospital.. Medicare keeps denying my claim saying that it needs a modifier for a demonstration project. I have looked everywhere and can not find a modifier to fit.. Any suggestions? We have also been told until billed correctly that we have no appeal rights....

in the HCPCs book Q2 says HCFA/ORD demonstration project procedure/service, could they be referring to this? what CPT codes are you billing that they are saying needs modifiers? if you are billing 98940,98941, or 98942 HCPCS says you should be using modifier AT (acute treatment)
