Good afternoon,

We have a Ohio Buckeye patient who had an IUD placement on June 3rd. She came in today stating that the IUD is coming out. Dr. examined her and confirmed this is the case. Any ideas on how to (and if) this can be billed?

Thanks,

Denise

If he is going to put in a new IUD he can bill the removal of the existing one that is failing and the insertion of the new one.

I would just do an EM for placement check. Did he remove it? You can call your Mirena rep. They should know
