Our ambulatory surgery center is looking to offer our patients IV fluid hydration after procedures instead of them having to be sent to the ER. Most of the patients will be self pay patients but we may also offer it to patients that have insurance. Does anyone know what codes we would bill and if this is acceptable for fluid hydration only?

96360 Hydration, 31 min to 1 hour
96361 Hydration each additional hour (must be at least 31 minutes to charge additional hour)

You might want to check with your Mac to see if there are any LCD's for hydration. Our MAC states that hydration has to be MORE than 500cc in order to charge for hydration.

If this is after a procedure, hydration may be bundled. Just a thought.
