I work for an oncology / hematolgy practice. When we do a bone marrow biopsy in the office we will give our patients an IVP of Ativan. Sometimes our patients will bring Demerol with them (we do not stock this drug) and have us administer this drug along with the Ativan before the biopsy is performed.

Medicare is not paying for the initial IV push but they will pay for the sequential IVP. ??? Not sure why. Since we do not bill for the Demerol - should we be attaching additional information on the IV push stating that it is for the Demerol?

Any suggestions so that we can get these both paid?
Thank you!
