When you inject Kenalog or a steroid into a joint with or without guidance, do you code the drug. And if you can would it be J3301x4 for a 40mg injection of Kenalog. Thanks

Yes, you do code the drug (Kenalog in your example)
I don't have a HCPCS book handy, but the quantity on the claim needs to reflect the strength and quantity of the drug administered. You would consider the strength used and compare it to the description in J-code

The HCPCS drug description states J3301, Injection, triamcinolone acetonide, not otherwise specified, 10 mg. (use this code for Kenalog-10, Kenalog-40, Tri-Kort, Kenaject-40, Cenacort A-40, Triam-A, Trilog.

Therefore J3301(4)
