My practice gives 40mg of Solumedrol and with the new code J2919 (injection, methylprednisolune sodium succinate, 5 mg) would we have to bill 8 units?

I'm following this one. I've been billing 8 units for 40mg and haven't see a denial yet but I'm worried that I'm billing it incorrectly. It makes sense to bill it that way but I'm still fairly new at this (this is my first big change as a coder).

Presuming you are using a 40 mg vial, which would leave no drug waste...yes, you would bill 8 units (5 mg/billing unit x 8 units).
