Wiki joint infection

I'm having trouble with a joint infection Dx. The prosthetic knee has been removed so would I still use 996.66 and V43.65
Also an ankle fracture with hardware removed due to an infection.

I Believe you can also add the code v5401 (or v54.09) for the removal of the internal fixation device. Watch out for the CCI edits and see if it will work with the complication code.
