A JP drain was placed at the time of surgery for clipping of an anterior communicating artery aneurysm. At the time of attempted removal, the drain was found to be tethered. The surgeon took patient back to the OR for exploration and removal of the drain. Can I bill for this and what code would I report? I would use a 78 modifier. Thank you.
