Wiki JZ Modifier

Can someone please explain when to use the JZ/JW modifier on vaccines. Per the Medicare LCD, it pertains to HCPC's codes. I know it does not apply to vaccines, Influenza, pneumococcal, hep B and Covid 19.

Just to clarify, you would add the JZ modifier to the vaccines, that are given to children? Such as 90707-MMR, 90715-Tdap?

For now, I suggest that you follow any instruction from the individual payer; some are not requiring JZ at all. Some may exempt vaccines based on the Medicare policy that exempts the vaccines covered under Medicare Part B. Medicaid plans will likely issue policies on the appropriate use based on state policy. (Not much of an answer but this is likely to vary.) Cindy
