K52.9 is being rejected by some insurance companies. Should I use K52.89 instead? The documentation from the docters says its non infectious colitis. HELP

K52.9 is an unspecified code. Most payers will not reimburse for unspecified dx anymore. If there is good reason that the provider could not be more specific then you appeal with that rationale. You cannot use K52.89 unless the documentation supports a type that has no other code.
