Good Morning!
I have billed NC MCD....
99213-25
73560-77 x-ray knee
73600 x-ray ankle

MCD is denying 73560-77 stating "radiologic exam, knee; minimum of 3 views not allowed to bill w/ related procedure." Can anyone tell me why this is getting denied?
 
Hi

If you are billing for x-ray of the knee 3-views you would bill code 73562.

If looks to be as if billed for 2-views and appended modifier 77 for the third view making this incorrect. Am I correct?
 
I am curious as to why a modifier 77 is added to the knee x-ray?

Was a knee x-ray performed earlier in the day and read by another provider in the same practice?
 
Looks like the 77 mod was added in error. We did not do 3 views of the knee so billed 73560... but the MCD denial is stating "minimum of 3 views not allowed to bill w/ related procedure." I'm soooo confused! HELP
