I have an op note that the physician did a debridement of the medial plica and the posterior horn lateral meniscal synovial fold. So I am torn whether to use the 29875 or 29877 because he debrided.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would be inclined to say 29875 because it describes synovectomy and plica resection. also what is the DOS? if it's in 2012 dont forget that 29877 (chondroplasty) is included in the meniscectomy codes (29880 and 29881), regardless of compartment, so if either of those were done at the same time, you wouldn't be able to bill 29877 anyway. hope this helps!!
