Wiki KV & ST Modifers

Hi, Just received word from my DME supplier that modifier "ST" is to be used for emergent brace dispensed, to bypass the authorization process.

Is this true in anyone experience?
Does this only apply to Medicare?

Please help = they do not have many answers to my questions
