Can lab codes 85025 and 85027 be billed at the same time? Can they be separate tests if they have separate diganoses attached to them? Or is the 85027 always included in the 85025?

Also, If the provider's notes do not specifically state "differential WBC" then would we only use the 85027? Even if they have separate diagnoses?

Thanks for any help!

85027 is CBC (complete blood count) Only; while 85025 is CBC with automated diff. So to answer your first question no, they would not be reported together.

85027 could be reported with 85032 in the event a manual differential was ordered.

I'll defer to someone else on your second question. (I've only coded for a short time but I've been a Clinical Lab Scientist for a long time!)
