I have a CRNP that works with the mom when they are haveing breast feeding problems. Now they are somethings in once a week. They have been coding 99213 and are questioning 99214 because they are with the mom 30min to an hour. I am unsure as to what to code as it seem more like a 99212 to me but the time is so long. Any suggestions??

99214? Even if they want to bill based on time it is still quite a stretch. Lactation visits are problem focused and the medical decision making is very basic. I agree with you that it should be a level 2.
