Our lactation consultant saw a new mom for an issue with breastfeeding. The problem was actually that mom was not able to determine when baby needed fed, therefore the baby was fussy. She is not sore, supply is good, no breastfeeding problems. Any suggestions on diagnosis codes for this? LC suggested I use 780.91 (fussy infant) but can we, as ob/gyn bill this code for the infant or must I have the infant entered into our computer system as a patient. Any help will be appreciated.
