I currently bill for a lactation consultant in a pediatric office. The lactation consultant is billed under the PCP of the patient. There are limited codes that are used (P92.8 /Z71.3) are there any other codes that can be billed? The O codes are denied considered mommy codes(i.e. cracked nipples/ inverted nipples) when the child is our pt not the parents. I tried to explain to the consultant that the child is our pt not the mom, so we cant bill for whats going with mom. Any suggestions?
