Just wondering if the Dr. does the Laminectomy with facetectomy for decompreesion of stenosis, but finds a synovial cyst while in there,ad resects it. Would I be corect to code it to 63047, because the stenois was the main reason for doing the procedure?

I would query the provider and ask if the resection of the cyst was just incidental to the procedure - not really extra work, just there so removed it, kind of situation or was the cyst so large that it was adding to the compression on the nerves and had to be removed as part of the therapy? I would wait until I had that answer before I went any further. Good Luck!

I agree, if the synovial cyst is just small and was kind of incidental I would bill the 63047. If it was large and was causing the compression I would probably look at the 63267 code. It doesn't look like it was a large and complicated synovial cyst though if it was found incidentally and not beforehand.
