This case of a perforated, gangrenous appendix with abscesses was billed with 44970 and an unlisted code for 49905. Since the Appy was done laparoscopically, we had to set up an unlisted code with the same RVU's as 49905. Is this billable even if both codes were done as open? I checked the NCCI and there were no bundles but I'm having problems getting the payer to pay the omental flap. I just wanted anyone's input. Thanks.
