Our surgeons are going to start doing lap band procedures. If a patient is getting an adjustment S2083 in the office-- do you charge for any of the surgical trays: a4550, a4649 or a9999? Or is there anytime you code for the syringe with needle etc? Also if flouro is used do you code for that 77002?

Thanks any help would be appreciated.

Land band help

Hi,

Typically our physicians just bill the S code. However, you will need to know if the global applies. Most of our patients are self pay and therefore they include all refills, adjustments etc. into the price for the surgery. If your office purchased the supplies and the supply is used "in the office" yes you can charge. Hope this helps a little. :)

lap band adjustments

Currently, you can use the s2083 and 77002 -but the supply codes are usually included in the surgical code ( and when billed may be bundled); You may also find that any band adjustments that occur within a 90 day global period of the original surgery (43770-43775) would also bundle to the original surgery code; Adjustments after the 90 days will not bundle.
We may see in the future ( when s2083 gets a permanent code, that the fluoro guidance will be inclusive to the adjustment...but for now they are allowed separately;
