If a CPT code does not specify open or laparoscopic.... can it be used for both?

doesn't your code depend on the report, what the physician says it is, or else query the physician

Yes, but what codes are you looking at? There should be a way to tell them apart.

I am looking at the code 43112.... I know my physician did a laparoscopic procedure.

I believe that is an open procedure. The laparoscopy codes start at 43279. Sorry I can't help much further. Good luck.
