I seem to be having a memory loss problem today... Do I need to use a mod -59 on the layer closure cpt when coding for the excision on a lipoma, etc...
 
Now that we have all the new codes for subq tumors in the musculoskeletal section, the layer closure is generally included for lipomas. But when you're coding for skin lesions, no you don't need the -59 on the layer closure code.
