I have a group of pediatricians that are wanting to bill for counseling parents on lead and other household hazardous chemicals using code 90887 in addition to the preventative visit and the performance of the lab lead test, 83655.

I feel that the provider interp. and counseling are part of the preventative service - if it is performed at another time or sick visit the use of 99420 would be more appropriate, thoughts?

Could really use some input/advice/suggestions ...
