What icd 9 code does everyone use for a lead testing for a well child? We refer our patients elsewhere to get the screening done since it's a state requirement. Our referral desk is saying the insurance companies are not covering them because we're using a V code. What other icd 9 code would we use if the patient is well and it's routine?
 
Iron screening

I don't think there are any. It's either a screening, which the v code covers, or there are symptoms. Maybe you could get in touch with the insurance company to see what they want.
