I was wondering if anyone has had experience in billing and reimbursement for 17380 (electrolysis epilation) with a referral from TriWest carrier? We received a referral from Triwest on behalf of a patient to perform LHR on the beard area as the hormone medications are not helping to remove this. This patient is transitioning from a man to a woman. Has anyone submitted services and received reimbursement for this. This is generally a cosmetic procedure and carriers will not cover it. Our Estheticians are not contracted with carriers to receive reimbursement. We have one provider MD that can perform LHR. However, we would like to find out if this will even be considered? Thank you.
