hello!
the report states
'Elevated cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL chol, and chol/HDL ratio with decreased HDL Chol- consistent with above average coronary heart disease risk.'

ok the part i'm getting hung up on is the HDL and LDL. they are both types of cholesterol right? So how do I distinguish the difference in these when I code them? Also, do I need to code elevated chol/HDL ratio?
thank you

Is this report from the physician? Since you cannot code lab results without a physician interpretation. The only thing you can code here is an abnormal lab or if there is a code for elevated result you may use that code.

Still abnormal lab or elevated cholesterol is all you can do you cannot code hypercholesterolemia. There are not codes specific to elevated LDL or decreased HDL.
