If a provider performs an excision for the removal of a clinical lipoma on the face, but is unable to find it, can the excision and the repair be billed?

If the procedure was attempted and not successful code the procedure with 53 modifier.

I think modifier -52 would be more appropriate since the procedure was stopped solely because the provider could not locate the lipoma, not because the patient's health was in danger.
