Would you use a location modifier on a procedure that could be done anywhere on the body? For example: 10140: incision and drainage of hematoma. The Dr. states that it is located on the left thigh and the DX is 924.00-contusion of thigh. It seems like if it was used it would be informational only and not really required. Any thoughts? Use or not use?

Not for integumentary system CPT surgical codes, because the integumentary system is one system regardless of the location the site on the body. Some carriers will deny as "inappropriate modifier used."
