Okay... question all you who have been around for awhile billing and such.

I work at a non-profit clinic. They had to let go of their provider at the end of last year. They then went through a locum tenens to continue providing services to our patients. We were told that we cannot bill for the locum tenens because they are covering a vacant position. Is this true?

We currently have a new provider who is also a locum but we are preparing to hire him on permanently. He thinks we should be able to bill for him and the services he has been providing for us. He is credentialed through medicare/medicaid and all the insurances we take.

Could y'all please give us some clarity on this? The person who told us we couldn't bill is our HR person.

We are not expanding or growing, we simply have been trying to continue care with patients when our long time provider left. Can we bill under our practice's NPI??
