Can someone please help with billing of locum tenens. With the billing, do you bill under the absent physcians NPI#, and do you use a modifier.

We use QW modifier for medicare and I think we bill with the physician's NPI.
Correct me if I am wrong.

You bill just as if your doctor was there and use the modifier Q6.

Yes, you bill under the absent provider's name with the Q6 modifier. Also note that CMS only recognizes PHYSICIAN locum providers.
