Hello All,
I'm coding ICD-10-CM diagnoses at the Nursing Home. I have a patient that is being admitted from the acute hospital with a diagnosis of Acute MI under four weeks old. I know I can continue to report the MI if it is under the four week time frame. My question is, can it be the principal diagnosis? If I am understanding the guidelines correctly, it can only be reported as "other diagnoses" at the long term care facility. Is this correct?
Thank you for your help!!
