Hi I recently past my CPC -A looking for employment. I have worked in Dental Field for 30 year wanted a career change. Would really like to do Risk adjustment coding . Working on practicode right now. looking in Bay area or remote jobs.

Hi congratulations on passing the CPC exam!! I highly recommend you to start looking for work as a medical claim specialist that way you get to utilize the skills you've learned and learn new skills along the way, also you will be getting your foot in the the door to gain coding experience, so that you will eventually be able to find work as a medical coder. I literally just started looking for work about 2 weeks ago and I applied for a claims specialist position and the company reached out to me yesterday and offered me the position! It's entry level, but you have to start somewhere, and I get to train and work from home, which is a huge plus. I new I wasn't going to be able to find a coding job right away, but this is the best way to get your foot in the door. Good luck to you and don't give up!!
 
Thank you for the info. Congratulations on your new job!! I will look for medical claim specialist anything to get my foot in the door and to gain some experience! Thank you again for the advice!
 
Don't forget to customize your resumes to each individual job posting you apply for as much as you can by including words directly used in the posting itself because companies tend to have software that scans resumes for keywords to even get an HR person to see it.
