LOOP EXPLANT ONLY
Preop diagnosis: implant site infection, auto-explant
Procedure performed: explantation of patient activated cardiac rhythm loop recorder.
Description of procedure: the medial edge of the device was already exposed when the patient came in.
After the risks, benefits, and alternatives to explanation of patient activated cardiac rhythm loop recorder were explained in detail to the patient and family, informed consent was obtained. The patient was brought to the operating room and prepped and draped in the usual fashion with exposure of the left anterior chest wall. After 1% lidocaine with epinephrine were administered over the previously implanted loop recorder, a scalpel was used to create 1cm incision. Blunt dissection was carried out till the fibrous capsule was reached. the device was then carefully freed from the surrounding tissue and explanted. manual pressure was used to achieve hemostasis. 4-0 Vicryl was used to close the wound.
I'm unsure whether if this is the correct diagnosis code I should use for this procedure, T81.41XA.
