According to the NCD for my MAC it says to use Z87.891 for personal history of tobacco use but ICD-10 says to use F17.200 for current nicotine dependence. Any suggestions on how to code this?

Low Dose Lung CA screen CT

You would use Z87.891 for a patient who used to smoke but has quit. You use F17.200 for a patient who is currently a smoker. There is also Z72.0 for Tobacco use NOS - so the order doesn't specify if the patient used to smoke or currently smokes. I hope that helps!
