Malignant ascites with primary cancer of Liver

Hello Everyone...!!!

Patient with PMH of Primary Liver cancer under Chemo admitted for paracentesis. No Cytopathology report is available. Only Physician documentation of Malignant ascites can be considered to Code PDX as Liver cancer and SDX as R18.0 . This admission no chemotherapy done.

That's correct, per the 'code first' note under R18.0, the ascites code should be always listed second after the code for the malignancy itself.
