Wiki Mammo dx coding

Brand new coder here! I have a screening mammo for a patient with a family history of breast cancer (mother) per the mammo order, but the code on the order is V76.12. Is it appropriate for me to change the code to high-risk, or would I need to query the physician?

you would code V76.11 and V16.3. If the documentation states that the patients mother has history of breast cancer you are ok to bill the high risk DX codes.
