From Providers note:
PT. HAD SCREENING MAMMOGRAM COMPLETED AT XYZ MOBILE MAMMOGRAM UNIT. X-HOSPITAL TO
READ MAMMOGRAM REPORT AND SEND RESULTS TO PT VIA MAIL.

We had a mobile unit come to clinic and perform mammogram in mobile unit, with results sent to another facility for reading.
What would provider need to add in order to make this codable and billable?
thanks for any help with this.

For performing the mammogram. Our clinic paid for the mobile unit to come clinic and do the mammograms and was told we could bill for that. I don't think the note entered by our provider is enough information for this and needed help with this. Or if it is billable. thanks

You're talking about billing the technical component, correct? You need a valid signed order from a provider for that service to be covered, but you don't need 'documentation' of the mammogram itself to bill for it. The technical component would have stored images, not documentation, to show that it was performed. The physician who interprets the images will perform the documentation of the results in the patient's record.

I didn't know an office had to pay for a mobile unit to come do mammograms. That sounds more like a courtesy service for your patients since the office has no financial burden for the equipment.
