I am coding for hosp vists, if the MD and the APRN both have on the rounding sheets that they saw the pt, who do i bill it under the MD or the APRN. The APRN has dictated the note.
 
I'm not sure what is included on a 'rounding sheet', or whether or not this information is part of the patient's chart. But per the rules for shared visits in the hospital, in order to bill under the MD, the MD must have documented in the record that he or she personally saw the patient and performed a face-to-face portion of the E&M service. If only the APRN has actually documented in the record, then the service will need to be billed under the APRN.
 
Thank you Thomas that was what I needed to know the APRN is the one that signed the document as the author.
